Hello all! I had a great time yesterday saving some history with a good buddy. We were searching for a Confederate camp & stumbled on a house site. I found a coat sized tombac button & we slowed down. My best find was a1856 seated dime (my 2nd!). I also found a beautiful 1928 standing liberty quarter. This was also my 2nd one however the first one I found was very rough. I also found a good assortment of other relics. I'm not sure on the last 3 items, any help would be great. I believe the middle item may be some sort of saddle tack but not sure. I also found a button that's very brittle & crumbled some when I tried to clean. I can make out an M. Any help on this would be great as well. Thanks for looking & HH!

You guys stumbled on an awesome site! Must have been a virgin site. Great finds.

Congrats on the great finds! I'm an SLQ collector, so I always look forward to people posting them- best coin ever made IMO.

Continued success to you!

Thanks Jeff, the SLQ does have a beautiful design. What do you think this would grade? Fine?

Most of my planned hunts don't work out too good. So, I love those lil surprise places. Great finds!

Looks like a lot of fun was had on that hunt. I like when you said that you slowed down after finding the Tombac. You just knew at that point that you were onto an old site. Do you think the site is hunted out now? After the Tombac I would expect you to find some more early relics or coins. I am envious of that seated dime, however, something that I have not been lucky enough to find yet!

I agree. When you dig one in really nice condition it's one of the most beautiful coins ever. Even one with a readable date is a real plus. Most of the ones I've dug don't have a date.

I think it's far from hunted out. We've barely scratched the surface. It's a lot of land to cover (a hunting club leases it during deer & turkey season). There's probably a couple more home sites at least, 2 have been found so far. Aimlessly roaming leads to good thing sometimes!

That standing liberty looks in good shape. Im jealous, I have yet to find one. Great haul!

Awesome, like the SLQ nice shape..

Me too, couldn't have said it any better!

Nice going on the silver Josh. That SLQ is in remarkable shape with very little wear. Those coins are notorious for being worn, especially the high relief date, but it seems that most I've found are in similar condition to yours. Can't figure that out, but I'm not complaining.

Wow! Nice finds. Congrats on the second seated.

Nice getting to meet you the other night.
GL&HH.

Nice hunt Mangrum!
