1857 Canadian Large Cent & Sterling "KiddieGem" Ring

Hi Everyone,

I got an early start today - expecting temps here in Indiana in excess of 100 degrees - I found a rather small grassy area to hunt and came up with two nice finds.

1857 Upper Bank Of Canada Large Cent...

...and a sterling silver "KiddieGem" ring...

Both in super nice shape.

I know the LC has a few years on her, and due to the workmanship on the ring,
I don't think it's all that new either.

I'd like your input on these - especially the ring.

Thanks, Happy Hunting & (for my U.S. friends) Happy Labor Day Weekend!

I've had my butt in the AC since around 1pm - forecasters are now saying the temps will still be in the 90's early tonite.

Upon further research, the Large Cent is technically a bank token - as I understand it, Canada went to a standardized monetery system in 1858. Prior to that, each colony/provience had their own currency.

The Kiddiegem ring isn't a fake - it's sterling silver with a mounted gem. They were guaranteed to "last a lifetime" according to the manufacturer. It really IS a nice piece of jewelry - it's just not white gold & diamonds. I'm very pleased with it.
It's the first ring that I've dug that made my heart skip.
It wasn't until I got home and cleaned it up, that I realized that it wasn't what I had hoped, but a darn nice find regardless.
