Detector(s) used
DeLeon; Vaquero; CX II with Treasure Hound; Tracker IV; BH3300; some chinese funny junk as MD1069:)
Just the picture of what my Tracker IV brought me some day ago. I was on the top of a low mountain, no woods but just a nice lawn, nothin to envy to a well managed yard. Rained 'till the day before. Found a lot of 9 mm. shells, T IV was in tone mode to notch out all the trash...After 10 min. I had a strong signal near a stone and I started digging in that soft mountain's dark earth. This beautyfull 1862 5 cents. coin was 6" down. Vittorio Emanuele II was the first Italian king in 1860, when he conquered the South of Italy by the way of the Garibaldi's expedition...a dark age for the South :'(
I'm really proud of the little T IV, it's so easy, fast to swing, nice to pinpoint lightweight and...quite deep. It also picked a strong iron signal probably from a large item. I decided to dig but had to give up 'cause my trowel couldn't go deeper and still I was finding nothing. I marked the spot, I will return with my shovel soon...

here my own oldie... :tongue3:

Nice find. It looks about the same as the 10 centesimi,1866 Italian coin I found recently here in minnesota.Check it out.

This should be the number one Hobby! We all get to go outside and enjoy ourselves and discover something that has been hidden for a while. Everyone here really motivates me and I keep at it in all type of weather. Congratz on the finds!

That's a really nice find.

Yes very nice coin Melvin....

Tanks everybody :) :)...As I work with the local Cultural Resources Bureau as Archaeologist, I'm the only one detecting and I swear I've found a lot of very very ancient and incredible stuff (coins and artifacts) along two years. It's all in our Museums now...But this coin have a special fashion to me. It comes not from an archaeological site, of course, but somebody lost it years ago, who knows why and how...
I can say I've changed my perspective on MD'ing and my colleagues also begins to understand the benefits coming from this "hobby". I've posted a greater and clearer right side of the coin

Cheers.

M.
