1868 $10 Gold Piece & 1912-S Barber Half found together!

My son & I received permission to detect around a 1904 house in the small town of Dorena Oregon on Saturday March 17th (St. Patrick's Day). After only digging a couple targets I dug a 1868 $10 Gold coin! Then just inches away in the same hole I found a 1912-S Barber Half dollar. But then we detected for three more hours and didn't find anything else old.

congrats!!! just goes to show it pays to check your hole twice. how rare to find silver and gold in the same hole. how did your detector read it as?

congrats!!! just goes to show it pays to check your hole twice. how rare to find silver and gold in the same hole. how did your detector read it as?

I actually had several close targets when I was initially going over this area ~ I think the gold coin was coming in at about +50 on my XLT. I started pinpointing ~ the gold coin came out first, then a big nail, then the Barber Half, and finally another big nail. Then I let my son take his detector over it ~ he didn't find anything else.
