Last night I went to a permission My friend and I had just got. It was getting late so It was going to be a quick hunt. This house was built in 1870 so for California is very old. It is in very bad shape and nobody has lived in it since the late 80's according to the owner

I ended up finding a 1892 Indian, 2 mercs covered in crud (have them in lemon juice now) 5 early wheats , a old garter buckle dated back to 1898, and then in my trash pouch I almost threw out the neatest find to me. It is a gold plated pendant. It was covered in thick crud and I thought it was just junk. I spent 20 minutes cleaning it up last night to find it was gold plated and had a engraving of a old city scene. No idea on true date but I have a feeling it is rather old. I will go back when we have more time. The home owner has told me that about 30 years ago one of his workers found a gold coin after plowing one of the fields. He even showed me where they found it. So I will have to hit that area for sure in case it was a spill!! HH All

Nice finds, there is a house like that here in Michigan every half mile, they are neat and have lots of stories to tell, a great place to look is between the road and the front porch. Good luck!

That looks like a nice old place to hunt. Congrats on your finds.

Congrats sir.

That house doesn't look so old after your trip east, huh?

Good to see you scoring treasure on both coasts!

Just the tip of the ice burg, keep digging buddy. Tell the owner you have to hunt at night, gold coins come out at night for some reason?!

Awesome job. looks like it going to be a honey hole..

Sweet quick hunt!! I believe there's more to be found there and after hearing of the gold coin find, I bet it will be Sweet.
Good Luck and hammer that place!!

Congrats on pulling those keepers JZL1. :occasion14: Looks like a good permission. I'd be sure to hit up under and behind the shrubs. When it comes to cleaning the merc that have the grey crud. If it's the same grey crud I occasionally see on silvers in Ohio, I just drop them in some boiling water. The grey crud here in Ohio has the consistency of tar.

Fingers crossed that your find a gold coin there in the future.

Thanks Loco, I will try that with the mercs. I won't hold my breath on the gold but it sure is fun to dream!!

Congrats on the nice finds.where in california are u.
