Hi All,
Managed to do a bit of digging today before the rain arrived (looks like we've got it for 4 or 5 days now).
Found just a few coins, George III Halfpenny, Victoria Farthing, George V Halfpenny and just to confuse me for these rainy days to come a 1878 Alfonso XII 'Cinco Centimos' coin (same size as the Halfpenny):

Why an old Spanish coin in rural Derbyshire :dontknow:

Also found this rustic (hand-made looking) lead button:

More buttons, 2 thimbles (very small ones) and 2 buckles:

And then the heavens opened :'(

Best wishes,

Nice hunt David! I also find those small thimbles, must be for children, child labor was a big thing until more recently. With the exception of my children whom are still forced to mow grass and help cut firewood, LOL. They do get cash for chores for some strange reason. HH, Mike

you had a great day well done :icon_thumright:

Still racking up the finds :icon_thumright:

I can't wait until its harvest in your area, as a hammered coin is on the books :hello:
