1881 IH, my oldest coin yet

So I lied in my last post, and was able to make it out for an hour today. I learned of some houses that were in an area where the new school was built 20 or so years ago. I skirted the edges of the property where the playing fields end and the woods begin. This beauty was dug in the area that looked to me like it has the best possiblility. Many very big old trees here.




Here are the pics after the HP bath. That stuff sure does clean them up nice.

Thanks. Actually its a crapshoot as to the soil conditions here. If I go hunting a few miles west of here toward the bay, I dig a few inches and my holes fill with water. most cents out of that area come out pretty miserable. This coin was a bit further inland at a higher elevation (12 ft ) which may have helped.
