It is VF. Many will chime in that you should have only paid melt, but the coin dealer has to eat, also. With only a little over 5 million minted and being an early New Orleans, I'd say it was a fair price. I would have placed the price closer to 33-35, but the difference is only a couple of bucks. It would need more detail in the hair and feathers to push for a higher grade. It has some attractive toning and has escaped harsh cleaning by a previous owner. Many circulated Morgans end up ruined when previous owners try to improve the coin's grade/appearance. The problem they don't realize is that you can't add more metal.

Thanks for the post! I appreciate the honest opinion, and its just a few bucks but I like it quite a bit.
