I've been buying up lots of shield nickels on eBay to build up some decent grade common dates. Most of what I've got has been garbage, culls mainly, but I found a gem hidden in one of the lots. I'm not sure which lot this was from, but I've spent less than $200 for a little over 2 full rolls of shield nickels (not bad in itself). This made all of the purchases worth their while... The 3 is very obvious at some angles, while the 2 is very obvious at others. It's kind of difficult to see them both at once, due to the low grade of the coin, but it is possible. Here are some pictures I took with my camera and USB microscope.
