Hello all TNetters, was able to get back out and toss some more dirt right next to the last privy. My buddy didn’t think it was gonna pan out since the probing was a bit iffy. I said it was some disturbed dirt so just trust me. Lol.
Started out with a pile of river rock cap. Got down about a couple feet and probed again. Boom hit some glass at about the 5 foot level. Started finding quite a few local broken blob beers. Then found two Eliels Liver Regulator local meds. These are always nice. Was hoping for the cobalt version but these are just fine too. Then Don pulls out a very small Strange looking concave bottle. Arnsteins Gold Paint. Come to find out it was still full of the paint with the cork still in it. Can’t find any info really on this one. A unique bottle for sure. Don pulled out a nice wax seal Standard fruit jar. All intact. Crazy these survive in the rocks.
I went back in and pulled out a bunch of slicks and then I nearly blasted the craziest find of the day. It appears to be an advertising glass pen for Sapolio soap. How in the world did this survive with the paper and words still intact. Nuts. I can’t find any examples of this thing.
Then towards the end of the pit we find the tell tale sign of a privy. The chamber pot. And this was intact as well. Awesome. I did find the lid that was snapped in half. I’ll glue this back together.
It was a great day of discovering some unique items and some local stuff too. Fun times and we located two more privies. Just hope the excavator guys let us do those too. Enjoy the pics everyone and be safe out there. Jgas.
