This is cool! I found it detecting NC. Upon cleaning I found a name(E Faber) New York. I did some research and found that it is an antique pencil sharpener from the year 1886... Faber was bought out in the eighties I believe, by Castell Faber Castell ring a bell? look on a lot of pencils and office equipment and you'll see the name!

Cool find Sage!! I love these kind of relics that you can really do some research on. I thought you might like to see a handheld pencil sharpener that I found last summer at a one room schoolhouse site. It is an Eagle brand with a British patent date of Aug 1,1893. The cutter is long since rusted away.Also attached is another Faber brand of sharpener similar to yours.HH Jerry
