WOW what a great looking find congrats. HH Dave

Hey O7, that is one beautiful looking coin. It must have been lost just about 1889. Doesn't appear to much wear on it at all. Really nice find, Congrats...Lance

yeah i was quite pleased when I saw the thing unveiled. Spend 5 hours hunting and that's the only worthy thing I found. Since I've learned my lesson about removing caked dirt on silver coins in old areas - I resisted removing the caked dirt on either side until I got to a sink. All I knew is that it definitely was silver. When I finally did clean off caked on dirt to see the seated Liberty and date - I can tell you was very happy that I resisted doing this in the field.

Old silver in particular will scratch very easily and most dirt has very fine stone particles that you cannot even see. I hate waiting but someone wised me up to the folly of being impatient because on a key old silver coin - you could lose 100's if not 1000's of $$$ due to scratching coin in the field.

Thanks all!
