Hello everyone!!!! I am glad to have found this forums. Like the title says, I have bought some coins and wanted to know its worth. I took it to a jeweller and he offered me the price in gold's worth, something like $49 per gram. He said "I get these all the time. I'll melt it and sell it to the refinery." He though I was a complete moron. Anyways, here are some pix. Thanks in advance.

I don't know about those particular coins, but it is true that many old gold coins are only worth their melt value. That being said, many other old gold coins are worth much more than their melt value. I find an easy way to value the coins would be to see what the same coin in similar condition is selling for on eBay or other sites. The coin books are great, but a coin is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Unless they are rare, or in exceptional condition, they are likely worth melt or may carry a small premium. They look nice to me though!

Welcome to Treasure Net !

One, like your top coin (and in excellent condition) sold two months ago for $645. Condition is most important; you may wish to get it graded by a professional grading company. CoinArchives.com Lot Viewer
