Went out to the field for a couple hours on Wednesday and found this lil guy in the first ten minutes. The rest of the hunt didn't amount to much, but a silver coin made the trip worth it. Can anyone tell me if this is the Micro "O" version of this date? I have nothing to compare it to, other than a few photos I've found online. To me it looks like it, but I could use a few more eyes with experience to confirm it. Thanks for looking!

Happy Hunting!

NICE ~ Barbers are alway fun to dig! Especially the 'O' mint! I've been detecting for almost 20 years and I've only dug one "O" mint coin EVER! It was a 1906-O Barber dime.

But I don't think that that is a micro O.

I would say micro. Really nice find!!

Thanks Wes. Your Flying Eagle was nice as well!

It's definitely a micro "o" variety. According to Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia of US Coins the variety is considered "rare". Breen did not use that designation freely. Very nice find! :icon_thumright:

Thank you very much! I appreciate your help with the ID.

It is definitely a micro-O. This variety is common enough that it is only worth a few bucks in this grade due to the dings and damage- maybe $10-15 or so. It's a really rare and expensive coin in mint condition, though. I only have a VF30 example in my PCGS Registry set- the lowest grade in the set. Never seen one of these dug up!

Thanks rhedden...I wasn't concerned with how much it was worth...To me, digging it up worth more than any price I would fetch for it. Even if it was in perfect shape. I was just hoping to get confirmation of what I had. Wanted to make sure it was marked correctly when it finds its place in my dug collection. I bet that set of yours is beautiful!

That is a Micro O. I have attached pictures of the 1905 O that I found a couple of weeks ago in a curb.
