Went back to an old permission today. Managed to pull out a 1912 custer city dog tag. Oldest one to date. Also pulled this little religious charm. I think I can make out italy on the bottom of the back. The front has writing around Mary's head but its to small for me to make out. Any info would help. Sorry about the photos. My phone is a hunk of junk!

WOW ~ that is a great find!

I have the newest edition of Dr. William Bones' book US DOG LICENSE TAGS. . . . . in this book it listed the oldest reported dog tag from Custer City SD is 1950 . . . your 1912 tag pre-dates that by far! SO AWESOME!!

I will forward your picture to Dr. Bone so he can update his database and he will reflect this new discovery in future printings of his book!

THANK YOU for sharing your find!

Neil
