1918s Wheat Penny

Found this 1918s wheat penny last night. There was a house on a lot built in the late 1800's but it was demolished in the 1990's to make room for a freeway on-ramp. Most of the old trees are still there but there are no signs of any structures, other than the lean-tos and tents that some homeless folks have built. I scanned for about 2 hours and only found 2 coins . . . the wheatie and a newer nickel. I feel like the site has potential and will probably go back soon. Thanks for looking.

Looks like it held up pretty well.
Hope your homeless are not as trashy as ours If so You have Much patience digging through all them bottle caps ,pull tabs,etc.
IMO you got good finds in your future.

Yeah, I agree. Worse is when they try to "scare you off" when you get too close to their camp. That's when my fierce looking "Hattori Hanzo" digging tool pays real dividends :-)

It's a Japanese gardening tool called a "Hori Hori" and I stumbled upon it at a local nursery. It's compact and very well built and especially good for cutting plugs in grass. I think I paid $29 bucks for it and I love it!

BTW, I call it my "Hattori Hanzo" after the legendary samurai sword maker in Tarantino's "Kill Bill" movies. If I accidentally gouge a coin with it, my digging buddies say it got "Hanzo'd."

Outstanding! You just don't find those old wheats in that good of condition. Most excellent find. Congrats.
