Can'y help, other than the thimble was probably - Forget Me Not

Lawman, the GTi 2500 is a sweet machine, and if it is in the ground it is going to find it, whatever it is. I have had 1 for about 4 years now and it has never failed me. So... No you are probably doing nothing wrong, you might have found all there is to find. I have found, depending on your soil try setting frequency about 5 or 6 with an 8.5 depth and have your bell tone on. That has worked for me. HH hope this helped. 8)

the only thing i can say is try to only notch out the last two or three segments on the left. (iron). the more discrim you use the less depth you will have. other than that, just slow down and be sure you are overlapping your swings by at least a half if not a third. if it feels like you are crawling you are doing it right! remember that your coil is putting a signal in the ground kind of shaped like an upside down cone. kind of like this.......VVVVV..............if you are not overlapping swings you are missing a ton of ground and potential targets. also dig those iffy signals. you never know. ;) just take your time and enjoy your time out detecting! the good stuff will come if youre not in too much of a hurry! ;)

Whe you say iffy signal what do you mean? I can understand that on all metal mode but when I use coin mode or jewelry mode I either get a loud beep/belltone or nothing. By iffy do you mean every swing gives you a different reading versus a solid consistant swing?

Dugfinds,
Can you tell me anything about the forget me not thimble? Is that common?

what i mean are those tones that kind of only ring in one direction of your sweep. you know the kind, they sound like junk, and are junk most of the time. but sometimes they will surprise you!

That old of a property should yield more. If not coins then other items. Might not be all that virgin. Detectors have been around a long time.

Its a fairly common thing (to be written on a thimble) for a Husband/Lover to give his lady when he went away. As a reminder of him. ie Forget Me Not.

thats cool. I can't help but think that the giver was going away to war and gave it to the owner of the house around 1941-45

Try not to get too bummed, I've seen the same thing happen many times. Some residential properties simply don't yeild that much. But you have to consider that someone else may have been there, even if the owner has lived there since 1925 and never let anyone else do it. He either got night hunted, or hunted on vacation or whatever.
