I finally got out today for a couple hours. Not much was found but I did find this 1930 penny with another coin melted to it. This is my first.

Because I see a Reeded edge I am assuming it is a dime.

So? any ideas on the best approach to determining if the dime is silver?

You could always file a thin sliver deep enough to see the internal color. Or a soak in vinegar might clean some of the crust up. I don’t think I’ve ever dealt with melted coins....

Interesting find!

Lemon juice might also work but not sure what it would do to the Penny. I might just leave them alone

Lay a dime on a penny and shoot it with your detector. Then do the fused coins and see if it reads the same. Gary

Are they really melted or just cruded together?

Interesting!!

Strange!! I have found coins fused together where a house had burned.
