1935 Syrian Coin

Found this on the ground at the old horserace track here in town a couple weeks ago. I've never seen anything like this before and I thought you all might like to see it.

I don't know too much about it ..it is dated 1935 and appears to be brass?...maybe copper but I don't think so. It say's Syrie on it and the scrolling appears to be Arabic.

Thanks for looking and if you know something about it I'd love to hear it.

Nice find and a neat looking coin. Tried to find out some information on it but came up dry.

nice find! I used to have a similar coin-- it is from the period when syria was a french protectorate after the 1st world war. yours appears to be in excellent condition. hope this helps a little.. HH Jim
 
I think it is a token for one free camel or flying carpet ride.

It is Arabic and says 5 piasters. The "O" is actually Arabic for "5." On the other side in French it says "State of Syria." The date is in Arabic characters on top and Latin characters on the bottom. I don't actually read Arabic, so I can't tell you what else it says, just remember the numbers.
 
Very interesting find..sure beats a pulltab.
