1942/1 D Mercury Dime: is it or isn't it?

Found this is a junk silver coin roll I was getting ready to sell. Thought it was just a 1942 D to begin with, but took another closer look after taking the pics. The third pic is a blow-up that I photo'd from my computer screen: starting to show pixilation.

So ... what do YOU think it is. A 1942 D Mercury dime, or a 1942/1 D Mercury dime.

Here's a couple points for it maybe being real: 1) notice the doubling of Liberty's outline near the base, date, and near the B (hair) of LIBERTY, 2) can you see what looks nearly like a cud above the T in LIBERTY.

And, a couple points against: 1) no doubling of the 4 in the date that I can see; 2) the 1 doesn't go through the 2 or even near it. It's just kind of that big unicorn horn above the 2.

Just for comparison, here is what a "normal" 1942 Mercury should look like.

Nice catch.....my opinion is that it's simply a die chip above the 2.....For me, I think the non-doubling of the 4 is the biggest reason I'm calling it just a regular 1942-D.

HH all!

Have you sold the junk roll yet? And if not how much do you want for them and what's in it? Thanks!

A die chip. Is that like a cud but somewhere other than near the rim?

OK, let me play devil's advocate then. What about the doubling and the bottom and top of Liberty? (Don't take it personal, Greg. Had you said "It's a 1942/1 D," I would have asked about the non-doubled 4 as well.)
