1943 copper penny??

How would one know if they have a true 1943 copper penny? is there some way of knowing without destroying the coin or its value much? any help would be greatly appreciated..

The 1943 steel pennies will be attracted by a magnet. A copper penny will not.

I have a 1943 Uncirculated "shiny" Steel cent that is worth a couple of bucks, other than that I have never owned a steel cent that was worth too much!

I have a set of 3 uncirculated steel pennies I bought from a coin shop back in about 1972 or 1973. I see a set like mine on ebay right now for 15 bucks.

Most of the shiny 1943 steel cents are reprocessed, they have been replated to make them shine. These replated cents have been sold by the thousands at least since the 1970's. I have never seen an uncirculated one that still shined.
