1943 copper penny?

The lcs thinks it's an altered 1940.

I agree, it appears to be a one.
 

Pretty sure it’s not a 1943 because the tail end in the 3 would have been all th way down to the same level as the tail end on the 9. If you draw an imaginary line from the 9 towards the 4 digit there is no evidence of any embossing of metal anywhere . I also agree with the other members observations through deductive reasoning that it’s a one and therefore a 1941

I ran a few filters over it to look for more embossing through shadows on the fourth digit
