1955 Maryland License Plate

Bottle hunt in woods in Cecil Maryland. Found 1955 plate, 1896-1910 ball jar, Texaco outboard oil bottles, however air took labels off. 1788 bottle. Any suggestions on cleaning license plate?

I don't think you're going to be able to do much with that plate as it looks like the rust is everywhere under the paint. Anything that removes the rust is going to remove the paint.

I’m gonna try! Cleaned up a little so far. Only did top left corner on back. Working on front!

Nice finds, I usually just scrub my plates lightly with a toothbrush and water to clean them up. If you want to, you can use a rust inhibitor spray on it after cleaning and it will give it a slight sheen. I'd say yours looks pretty good as it sits after your cleaning.

Nice find on the tag. I have used this mix for many years. Paint it with a mixture of 1 part boiled linseed oil and 3 parts mineral spirits. let it dry. it will surprise you.
