Hello!
So . . . . the weather has turned nice & sunny, but a little too hot to go detecting in. But this evening the wife & I took a picnic dinner to the Mill Race Park downtown and I did some detecting in the shade after we ate.
This park has been pounded to death for a few years now, but we still seem to find some treasures there once in a while.
I'm still getting aquainted with the Minelab Explorer SE that I bought from my buddy Ron ~ it's a great detector and I'm having fun learning it! I think I'm doing OK so far ~ this evening I dug a 1960-D Rosie Dime, five wheat cents, and three Memorial cents. Also, the deepest target I dug today was an old MASTERCRAFT spark plug.
When I got home and cleaned up the Rosie dime I looked at it through my stereo microscope and noticed that it has a repunched mintmark error/variety! VERY COOL! It's a 1960 D over D ~ and it's listed in the RPM book as 10c 1960 D/D RPM #1. You can see a secondary D under (south) of the main D mintmark. I took a picture of the one listed in the book.
This Rosie dime is my silver coin find #35 for the year!
Thanks for looking!
Neil
