1998 P Quarter

Greetings Everyone,


I don't know if this is considered an error or not but I just wanted to get everyone's input or suggestions. The feathers/tails seem to be missing in between the tail on this 1998 P Quarter. I have a square around the area I'm referring to on the quarter.

Agreed. Generally, the simplest explanation is correct.

I looked at this last night, and refrained from posting anything until today. Primarily, I wanted to see what more experienced members had to say.

The best advice I was given regarding searching for errors on coins was to learn everything I could about the manufacturing of coins. The better our individual understanding of this, the easier it is to understand how something could occur.

Time for more coffee.

One other possibility if signs of clashing are visible is that it could be from polishing the die too much.
