Detector(s) used
Started with a Minelab xterra 505. Then Equinox 600 with stock coil, xl coil and sinper coil depending on circumstances. Now use a manticore mostly or oversized coil on equinox.

Metal Detecting
1st Buffalo Nickel and a mystery brass thing.

My local detecting friend started finding stuff, 1837 large cent and a n 183? Half cent to name the good stuff, at this abandoned 1750s house. Took me a moment to recognize where it is. Had an hour to see if my small coil would get anything he missed. Dirt was hard as a rock, ants were angry with me. But I got a buffalo nickle and this brass thing. It's 0.75 by 0.85 inches. Has a fin on either side. No idea. Have to go back here when it rains. Seem to do good with a small coil and wet ground.

Congrats on your first Buffalo Nickel.

Thanks all. Just a 1936 most common year but minimal ware. Going back tomorrow. Ground should be softer. Any ideas on the brass thing?
