Well, I was able to work on my Spanish a bit today but today while coin shooting in the local park by my in-laws house. An 11 year old was following me asking all sorts of questions. "Wow, cool! How much did you find?! What kind of machine is that? I told my mom I want one.. Where can I buy one?!"
Lol.. spent about an hour with Mattias showing him how my Equinox 600 works and found a few Peruvian coins and bottle tops. Not much to show for it but got warmed up for the beach hunt tomorrow. Peruvian women LOOOVE their gold & silver, so I have high hopes to find some worth while "treasure".

The picture of coins here amounts to like less than 20& 1/3rd cents but it was actually fun talking with that young man and seeing the excitement of the hunt in his eyes. I hope he bugs his mom and dad to buy him his first MD from Amazon.
Thanks for looking... Hope I can post some decent stuff tomorrow8-)

Always an adventure detecting in a foreign country.
Well done

Howdy.. back at it. Did a little more MD'ing last night...
I think I alarmed a local woman walking her dog. I was detecting in the park again about 10:30-11:30pm.. There was sufficient light from the park lights so I figured, what the heck.
Just about the time I pulled this heart from the ground, a woman walking her dog stopped about 10 feet away from me and just stood there staring.
I politely said: "Hi" which seemed to alarm her even more:tongue3: I figured I'd better NOT walk towards here as I didn't want to spook her and I just waved and continued detecting... Sort of weird...she just sort of 'followed me' with her dog for a few minutes... then I guess she figured, I was doing no harm so she meandered off... LOL... Here is a couple more photos of the local currency (nothing old...) and the heart and a broken key... thanks for looking.

Great finds those will be good memory coins... Hope your beach hunt goes well

I lived in Lima for 4 years. I would try a beach to the south called Leon dormido. It’s south of Punta negra. You need a car.

Heya, lived in Peru for 8 years (Arequipa) got my first detector from kellyco (ace250) via a friend who visited and then started this wonderful hobby in Peru. I have some threads from 2011 in this forum (search via my profile or look for "metal detecting in southern Peru treasurenet". There you can see some of my finds. In my opinion beaches are terribly trashy here I had my best luck in old parks.
Also look for older neighborhoods near the historical center if you can get away with it.
But Lima is especially dangerous at night, I would not go detecting at night since people regularly get mugged or worse for as little as a phone. Also I had bad experiences with park security guards who were very suspicious of my activity.
Anyway good luck. Gonna be back to visit my parents in law next summer and will probably be detecting in Arequipa again or looking for meteorites in the highlands.
