1st Wheatie

At long last, it finally happened! I’m on a permission property that was built in 1788. My first coin was a 1933 Merc. Then lots of clad, which was kind of odd. Anyway on the last swing of the day it happened. I can’t read the date, but it’s clearly a wheatie. Very happy!!

I’ve been on a “First find” tour this year. My first Merc was about 3 months ago. I was totally psyched about the 1933 when she surface today. But I have a lot of clad pennies leading up to this wheat penny. It’s ofically in the books now.

The 1st year does give you the opportunity to dig many 1st's, glad you checked that one off the list. When possible I recommend you grid all permissions in at least 2 directions and then go back with a small coil and see what you can find in the trashy areas.

I gotcha now. I found my first Wheatie my first time swinging in my front yard. Took a few months before I found any Silver.
