I went out the other morning early to a park in my home town to screw around and try to learn the tones of my new AT Pro. I found some pennies and dimes, a quarter on top of the ground and a bunch of trash. Later that day I took it out back at my work where I thought I had heard a penny tone a few days earlier and went to check to see if I was right...yup a penny, I'm starting to get this. I was walking back to the car swinging the coil just screwing around and I went to turn it off but hit the ground balance button instead so I kept swinging it. I got a pretty clean 83/84 I think so I said let me dig this one too. I dug it up and about 2 inches down there was this coin. At first i thought a quarter but when I had it in my hand I realized it was a little big to be a quarter so then I figured a dollar coin. I started to rub it and I saw a big ONE across the back and an E and a T underneath. Then my mind started racing, what the hell is this, no way is this a large cent...I've never even seen a large cent before in my life. I came inside cracking up thinking to myself there's no way I just found this. I wash it off and there it is, clear as day ONE CENT. I called my cousin and detecting partner still laughing and tell him what I found and while I'm talking to him I started cleaning off the coins from earlier in the day and realize one of the pennies is an indian head penny. The large cent is 1838 and the indian head is 1867 I think, it's in pretty rough shape. I asked a guy from here if there was fill or something in back and he said they turned up all the soil while doing work and that's probably how the large cent was so close to the top.

Congrats on the oldies.

Great finds!

Nice digs! Finding two 1800 coins in one hunt doesn't happen too often for me. Congrats.

Those are some nice coin rescues. Got to love it when the mind starts racing. It wont be long and you will pluck that gold ring from the ground and find yourself doing a happy dance.

I honestly never thought I'd find one 1800 coin...ever, so it was a huge surprise! Thanks everyone!

Congrats on the IH & LC. Their in pretty good condition.
