I was creek walking yesterday. I went farther downstream that usual. I found 2 ripple sections caused by sharp turns of the water course. The silt was washed away and both were loaded with clean, mostly shiny, rocks. I brought a few back. Today I’m going back with a sifter and bucket.
Here’s a photo of a banded rock from the first pool. I also got a lot of white quartz and “polished” chalcedony.
I can’t wait to see what’s there.

Might be a piece of Sioux Quartzite that was washed by water or pushed by a glacier down from the SW corner of Minnesota from where the headwaters of the Des Moines river begins.
