The Team including Land-Mag went to a new field today but after 1 hour (3 man hours), all we had was 3 Roman Nails & a Crotal Bell which still rings, plus some bits...
After a long drive we tried another massive field where we had spotted some Roman Pot Shards, but after 1 hour all I had was a Tudor Clothes Fastener & Buckle.
We then moved to the nearby Roman Site that we started this year (the one with the nice nail Cleaner), & after 1 hour 15 minutes Dad & I had 8 Roman Bronze Coins, plus Land-mag had 3, & I got a Roman Silver of Vespasian. Plus a Roman Lead Bead, 16th C Purse Bar & a Roman Pin Head.

Do you get these large types of nails on Roman Sites?

(Although these nails were not on a site, probably a couple of fields away, as there was no pottery, no lead, no coins)

Glad to see you guys stuck with it until you landed on a nice spot. Love that early Roman stuff, especially the silver coin. Too bad something had to take a bite out of it, but it's still a great find none-the-less.

Nice one on the Roman silver Cru:icon_thumleft:. I hope to get out tomorrow for a few hours on my "Fav" field, we'll see what it's like after all the rain we have had over the last couple of weeks. It's only disced at the mo' but the farmer is deep ploughing it soon so I'll get 2 bites at the cherry, so to speak. I do wish I could have big roman days again, like you:laughing7:.

Not sure but the big ones with the large head are at least close to roman sites with not much other finds around, look at my post from today. These are found between pottery and tiles on a roman site.

Crusader, you always find such good stuff. Thanks for showing!
