Hey Tnetters,

I finally had the chance to go back to my roman brooch area as the wheat fields are clearing up.

I detected the field next to where I found the roman plate brooch which was a while ago, here is the thread from back then:

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/my-best-finds/543279-beautiful-roman-plate-brooch.html

The site really has potential.
Lets start with an overview without coins:

20668137_10213786429845439_1057349909_n.webpI believe this is a clothes or belt hook with a lion face motive, not sure if it is recent or Roman, I think it is more modern.
20643949_10213786435085570_413798172_n.webp 3 Rings and a large ring fragment. I am pretty sure the 2 smaller rings are bronze fingerrings that might be Roman but again, not sure. The big one is round on the inside so my guess it would be some kind of leather strap ring not a fingerring.
The small ones are rather straight inside so probably fingerrings.
20644044_10213786434725561_1248204395_n.webpHere is a size comparison with 1 US cent.

20645703_10213786436525606_455848360_n.webpNext the 2 Roman coins with size comparison.
20645691_10213786437005618_1164375875_n.webpThe small one I can not identify. The larger one I can see a head and writing but I can not match to any known Roman ruler.
20706881_10213786439205673_81601919_n.webpStanding fortuna on the reverse of both, I believe.
20668427_10213786438565657_1242264443_n.webp
20668204_10213786434645559_1520065709_n.webp 3 older coins (more detail below, I also found about 5 x 20th century coins in terrible condition which I did not bother to post)
20667905_10213786434205548_1986111539_n.webpThis little bugger is a 1693 Kurfürstentum Bayern München Maximilian II (Duchy of Bavaria) one-sided silver penny. It has a blank reverse. The silver is tarnished gray and probably low-grade.

20645735_10213786432925516_194485206_n.webpThis is a french LUIS XVI Copper SOL struck between 1774-1793 in desastrous condition.
20668720_10213786432565507_1799869929_n.webpThe reverse looks like someone deliberately poured molten iron over it and threw it in the ocean for 200 years. (This is after scrubbing with steel wool)

I will definitely be back to this field, I covered about 10% I guess

Thanks for looking, if I messed up any ID please do let me know!
Happy hunting!

''belt hook with a lion face motive''.

Nice find, hard to date but 19th C is most likely.

The larger Roman Coin with the 'Victory Advancing Left' reverse is a Valens or if you can see a T at about 10-11 o'clock after the N then its a Valentinian I.

:icon_thumright: That belt hook is very cool, i like lion themes a lot. Good day out!
