2000 penny wierd color help??

Found this 2000 penny today and it has a wierd color to it. I'm new at this and was wondering what causes it. Also in the same area on the back its a different color and has a line going from the bottom to united. I was also wondering if the boxes above the steps on the memorial are supposed to have so many lines in them. Can you please let me know. Thank you.

Hi 777,

Not sure where you dig (I'm assuming this was a dig) but where I am, the newer pennies circa 1998 and up start to disintegrate in the ground, getting holes and this looks like the start of that (third pic especially). They don't make em like they used too.
