2009 & 2010 Pennies?

Re: 2009 & 2010 Pennies?

Sure if you wait 20 years.. If you have BU rolls of unopened pennies from say 1983.. they'll go for around $2 each on Feebay

The 2009 might be worth more than a random year because of the commemorative designs and the relatively low mintage. We're not talking moon-money though.

I've got some UNC boxes and rolls set aside. I personally don't think they will every carry a premium in circulated condition.

In addition, there were special collector versions that were made with the same composition as the 1909 cent. They were sold in mint sets and proof sets. The proofs are easy to distinguish, but the mint sets will have the same P/D mintmarks as their zincoln counterpart. The only way to know is to weigh them. Sure the probability is low, but so is pulling old commemorative halves out of boxes.

Re: 2009 & 2010 Pennies?

The 2009 coins had a brief period when they were worth almost $200 a box. A few people here scored well with them and made some big money. Unfortunately that time has passed. I'd just check ebay for rolls and boxes of specific dates. They have to be unopened to get the premium. I still have a box of the 2009 cents tucked away. Doesn't cost anything to hold and I was one of the lucky few who scored during that run when they were getting moon money so I already made my profit.
