Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes......
Having given up on the detecting year, I decided to post my year-end totals. I found a few odd things during the year that were kind of cool, but nothing to write home about. I did find some other goodies though and a bunch of clad to go along with it as follows:
Total clad or modern coins: 1,667 for a total of $66.81 at face value.
Pennies – 1231
Nickles - 117
Dimes - 214
Quarters - 105
Dollar coins – 1
In other coin totals, I found one buffalo nickle, one 1928 mercury dime, one 1946 Roosevelt dime, 43 wheat pennies (the oldest was 1910) and a Canadian Large Cent with no mint mark dated 1900, which means it was struck at the Royal Mint at London and worth about triple what the "H" mint marked coins of that year are worth (these were struck at the Heaton Mint at Birmingham, England) or so I am told.
Mexican coins – 3
I found a total of 18 rings as well. Six of the rings were silver, one was a gold ring with a small diamond, one stainless steel and the rest were costume or junk rings.
I also found 7 older buttons that I have yet to identify, 10 various different tokens and a couple dozen Shot shells of which there were 5 or 6 of them very old.
Not too bad of a year for a relative newcomer with an older detector.
Happy new year and good luck to you all in 2012!
