So I began metal detecting on November 12 with my brand spank'n new CTX and have not looked back. I ran into issues with the CTX flooding out the USB port ultimately killing it completely and having to send back to Minelab for service. That left me with no detector for a week so I picked up a Fisher 1280-X and have been rather happy with it. I live on a small island so I am very limited in hunting grounds as the whole island is only about 150 square miles. We do have beach though 
In my first short year i managed to pull about $80 in clad, 14 rings, a pendant, some WWII relics, some silver coins, various other "things" and thousands of pull tabs, pop tops, and cans. All in all, I can say I am crushed with time management of trying to get more coil time. I am addicted like nothing else! Here are some photos of this years finds.
