Got about a dang jar full somewhere round here, even found some plastic ones digging bottle caps up.

Thanks for sharing...

Congrats on your token hoard!
I've found a plastic nickel laying next to a zinc, and a plastic ring with a dime stuck in it, I thought my detector was being a smart a--, and playing jokes on me...plastic , really? Zincs aren't bad enough now it has me digging plastic! OMG!
If it goes for paper I hope it has Franklin's picture on it!!!

They are state tax tokens. Various states issued these tokens in different compositions (Aluminum, zinc, brass, plastic and hard fiber, etc.) from 1933-to 1961. Always are a fun find!

Great info Thrilla. I didn't know that. Thanks for the link. No wonder so many tax tokens are found.

Yup, got a few coppers too. The coppers are fives, aluminum ones are ones. Pretty cool, I pretty much find at least one on every house site here.

#0000 steel wool cleans these crusty guys up great.

Cool, thanks been wondering what to use. Peroxide does not work, it just eats them up worse. Gonna try that

You have to get pretty aggressive with it in the heavily rusted areas but it will come off.

Depending on the state, some of the plastic ones can be worth some money. Not many survived.

They're mississippi ones...
