I completed my 5th year in the hobby. Didn’t do as much detecting as I have in years past.

I did manage to travel over 4000 miles in pursuit of the goodies. I made 6 forays to hunt with other Tnetters. For me, it’s as much about the people and adventure, as it is about the treasure.

I got to hunt with Damnails and Relic Nut. They took Locodigger and I on an awesome adventure.

We went to scenic places that were way off the grid. Cell phone didn’t work for 3 days!

I found a dozen pieces of Civil War lead, and this killer enemy staff officers button. You should have seen old Relic Nut’s face when I found that in the first hour!

I got to hunt a couple of times with the boys in NY/NJ, including: Treblehunter, Scrappy, Bartek, Eastcoasthunter21 & Triple555Nickel. I found all sorts of nice coins and relics, and really enjoyed the company of these fine gents.

Last but not least, I got to hunt with Bergie on 3 occasions. Two Civil War sites, and the recent War of 1812 hunt. This guy is a class act.

OK, let’s see some of the finds.

I found 38 silver coins, way down from last years 86. Most were Washington, Rosie, Merc and war nickel. Here are the 5 good ones.

Special shout out to Treblehunter, he put me on my first trime and only my second ever Spanish silver. You rock. He was also present when I found my first Spanish silver. Good luck charm?

I got a few large coppers, all from the North.

I was invited on my first Civil War relic hunts, one with Relic Nut and 2 with Bergie. I’m hooked. Here is a picture of all of the bullets I found, Enfields, round balls, 69 & 58 caliber Minies and a few carbine bullets.

I got a cannon ball fragment!

Lastly, two weeks ago Bergie took me to his War of 1812 site. Here are the buttons that I found. The Regiment of Riflemen weren’t around for long, so these are tough to find.

I could go on like this all day, in the interest of brevity, I will stop rambling on, and show myself out.

Thanks for looking and good luck in 2019.

Congrats on a great year Tom! Looks like you got in on some super hunts and made friends along the way.--JB

Fantastic year, congratulations on the nice finds and friendships! :occasion14:

Wow CT, what a great year. Those are some killer finds. I love the old Civil War stuff and the Trime & Spanish silver are just way cool as well. Good luck in 2019!!

Congrats buddy, you and I both bring luck to each other. I found my oldest Spanish( 1754, pillar and globes) the same day you found that beauty of a Capped Dime. The day you found that holed Spanish 2 Real I found that cut 2 Ferdinand! I also remember being by your side in the deep woods of Staten Island when you found that folded Spanish coin that I still say you should heat up and unfold, lol

A great assortment of finds and friends.Be careful where you kneel on some of your hunts. Are you feeding or teasing the wildlife?

Hell of a year tom! You logged some serious miles and killed it out there!

May 2019 bring you continued success!

Nice going, Tom. Was a pleasure detecting and spending time last year. More good things this year. Don't forget this cool one you found on one of our trips, maybe a button or the top to a cane? Best in 2019!

Looking forward to seeing you on another adventure soon buddy. I really appreciate your generosity and friendship.

I left that piece out, as it was my greatest disappointment of 2018. I thought that was going to be my first banner, however it turned out to be unable to be authenticated. Currently the EXACT same image is on the banner. Sour grapes are bitter and sour!

Hi, wow you had a awesome year with great finds. Congrats:occasion14:

Super nice post and finds!!!! (and this killer enemy staff officers button.).....lol

Glad to see you had another stellar year hunting with fellow Tnet members and digging some real treasures. Five years in you are bound to find less since you have hunted most sites that are convenient and close. I sure had a great time with you in VA with Damnnails and Relic Nut. I never been to a place where you needed to know what intersection in the county could provide you with a bar or two of cell phone connectivity. Man were we in the sticks, I am just glad we didn't hear any banjo music coming from the holler. :-)

Hope to hunt with you again Tom, someday ... somewhere.

Thanks for the kind words Loco. The trip to see the Relic Nut & Damnails was just awesome. There were a lot of beautifully remote spots. I was surprised that we didn’t hear banjo music too, I guess their banjos were broke!

Wishing you the very best in 2019 buddy.

Congrats on all of your finds from 2018 Tom! :occasion14:
Every hunt is about the adventure, the finds and friends we make along the way just make for better memories.

Best of luck to you this year,
Dave

Great post Tom. Damnails and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and hunting with both you guys. After the way you acted over seeing a mouse I was afraid to pull out the banjo.
All jokes aside, you guys are top notch and welcome anytime. Congratulations on a great year. See you soon Buddy [emoji41][emoji106]
