been doing 200.00 a week in pennies, pulling copper, sorting wheats, and checking zincs for errors. So far in 2010, I have found twenty 1998 WIDE AM's and two 2000 WIDE AM's, matching my 22 total for last year. Anyone else have same or better results?

I never search for wide AM's. I don't know if I could really tell the differnce if I even saw one in the wild.

Re: 21 weeks nets 22 WIDE AM's

I have never found one and I go through about $100 in cents a month. It's probably because I am on the west coast though. Nice finds

Re: 21 weeks nets 22 WIDE AM's

I have only gone through about $200 or so this whole year, but in my entire life, i've never seen a wide AM. part of that might be due to most 98, 99, and 00 pennies are minted in Denver (the wide ams were minted in Philadelphia) But it sounds like you're doing amazing!! Keep lookin for the '99!!

I find a lot also, but not that many. Ken Potter's site says the 98's are more rare than the 2000's , but like me you find more of them.

how much are they worth and is anyone buying them?

Re: 21 weeks nets 22 WIDE AM's

the 1999 Wide AM's are a $100.00+ coin in circulated condition. I have found a few thru the years and those go fast. the 1998 and 2000 Wide AM's go for a few bucks each at the coin shows. they can be found on ebay too, but shipping usually puts you around $4 to $5 per coin. Since I stopped doing the shows, I have two dealers that trade me silver for them when they need them.

dang, ive still never gotten any wide/close am cents...nice job :icon_thumleft:

Re: 21 weeks nets 22 WIDE AM's

I've found one 1998 wide AM. But I really hate searching zinc's so I rarely do it. Sorting out the coppers is easy. I can sort and count the coppers in about an hour and a half. Looking through the zincs for 4 hours hoping to find an error coin is painful and hard for me to justify.

Congrats on finding so many of them. You certainly have determination! :icon_thumleft:

Thats hard to believe as to I have found 5 - '98's and only 1 - '00 in my search for them. I am in the same boat as you. More 98's.

Great finds. I found a nice '99 wide am earlier this year. It's at ANACS now being graded. I'll post it when I get it back. It's supposed to be done on June 10th.
