Earlier last week I found my first complete shoe buckle (half dozen shoe buckles total) at a new cellar hole. Yesterday I spent some time at a new and freshly cut hay field and added another shoe buckle to the collection. As a bonus it was my second complete shoe buckle in one week! This buckle seems to be the same copper alloy as most shoe buckles I find, but the fact that it has some design makes it an even better find in my book. I also dug a flat button with some fabric still intact and an unknown piece of colonial looking metal. Thanks for reading and happy hunting!

Nice finds! If the item in the last picture is flat on the back then it's part of a pewter spoon handle.

Down here on the Jersey coast they are seldom complete , nice dig fo sure .

I think it's pretty much rounded. Will have to take a second look.

Yes sir, I would have said the same about My area too. Until last week! You'd think someone would notice a large piece of copper alloy missing from their shoe almost immediately and have the opportunity to recover it. I guess the only way a complete shoe buckle would fall off is due to a failure with the leather or the whole shoe was lost.

Really nice buckle. I've yet to find one in that good of shape. Congrats!

That's a pretty little buckle Keith. Finding two complete buckles is definitely beating the odds. I'm still looking for even a partial one.
