Got out yesterday to one of my favorite fields. The finds there this fall have been a little slower than normal, so after an hour with barely anything, I was beginning to wonder if it was time to move on to greener pastures. I decided to conduct a random walk in the field to see if anything came up in the further sections. Finally, I got an 11-43 on the e-trac at about 2 inches - Large Cent! Not 10 minutes later a 9-47 signal - another large cent! And about an hour later, an odd 11-35 signal - it's a toasted copper (can you see anything identifying?). A little later got that button with eagle on the back. Any idea of age, or other info? Finally, 5 minutes before leaving I got a 12-43 signal. Could it be another LC? It was silver... maybe some spanish silver?? Nope, but it was a 1898-S Barber dime - still a nice treat!
These coins have seen better days, but at least 2 of the LCs are IDable. So, overall a very nice day and I won't write off the field just yet!
HH all!
