Today's finds were hard won. The field is still only rough ploughed. The field should have been planted weeks ago. Due to the constant wet weather, the farmers are way behind. Signals on this site, are few and far between now. Still after five hours of stumbling about, here are the finds. Three Roman bronze, a broken late Saxon penny ( looks like Aethelred II, 978-1016, first hand type, although, if I am looking at the fragment correctly, the bust is facing left, it should be facing right). A cut half short cross penny 1180 -1247, and an hammered half penny. The half penny has not photographed well, but looks like Richard II, 1377-99. A bonus eyes only find, was the bead, Roman or Saxon ?. Robert.
