Pigeon Shoots are probably the cause of the Brass.
live Pigeon Shoots in the area were a big pass time from the early 20th. century to the early
1960's around here

4 maybe 5 inches not real deep.
it was on the extreme edge of the field

Does look like you did have to do some digging today. Was the ground really dry and hard? The hunts of late are getting harder and harder due to dry ground.

Bet that silver looking up brightened your day! Was it toward the end?

Yes I was using both a Gator digger & a Dandelion Digger type device for anything over 2 inches.
We had a shower overnight but the ground was still Baked hard.
Been hitting 90's almost every day up here through August.

this morning, 8:30 til Noon, with the exception of about 30 Minutes of Sun, was comfortable cool with a Nice Comfy Breeze.

& yes on the silver, it was one of my very last finds, I was getting Frustrated,
Just knowing it was there, But I wasn't swinging over any

DK got a war Nickel & a Silver Roosie before I got the Quarter

But No I didn't go running across the Field or Climb a tree when I found it
