I liked the dog tag till you broke it. :D Just kidding. Nice variety of finds. HH Burdie

Re: 3 Hours Across from the Grove

Nice artifacts recovered today Jeff.

The rains have been brutal here in p.a.

I really like it though. It washes finds in in some of my favorite spots.

I'm gonna get out here in about a hr for a hunt tonight.

Hope the rains brought something up.

HH Jer

Here's a link for a tag like you have...atleast it looks that way :) http://www.jakesdoghouse.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/30014/vpid/1237569/vpcsid/0/rid/117773

Wish I could find some neat things like you and others have found. Someday, I reckon'!

Tried to search something on the basket of apple button cover...with no luck.

For the piece marked P.F. EISENBROWN....I found on this page...look under MARBLE, GRANITE and SANDSTONE WORKS http://www.rootsweb.com/~paberks/library/business/k-n.html

Modify here: looking at the basket of apples button cover...is there writing on the back on the very bottom left...looks like a "D", but can't make anything else out.

I got the same hit. Here's the text:

P. F. EISENBROWN Sons & Co.: In 1875, P. F. EISENBROWN located at Reading, started a Marble and Granite Works and carried on the business until 1899, when he formed a partnership with his sons. The firm name has been continued until the present time. The works were located at Sixth and Elm streets until 1906.whem they were removed to Muhlenberg township, along the P. and R. railroad, a short distance north of Reading. This firm is extensively engaged in preparing granite works of all kinds and its trade extends throughout Berks and the surrounding counties. They employ from 50 to 60 men. They still retain their yard in Reading.

Just a guess, but manufacturers of cemetery monuments, headstones, etc. often attach a small metal tag, usually on the base of the marker at the side or back. (Nowadays they're usually glued on, rather than attached with pins or screws. ) So, that might be what it is.

Re: 3 Hours Across from the Grove

Thanks Ronandann

And PBK

there is a cemetery there.

If it didn't Come off a Stone, it may have come off the Delivery Vehicle.
it was found along the Driveway in.

and NO "D" on the back of the basket of apple button

Re: 3 Hours Across from the Grove

What's nice about that EISENBROWN thing....that they are still in business and based on the addy on the thing...that was 1899 and 1906 (when he opened business with his sons till the time they moved location). I bet they could give you a better time frame when it was made and for what :)

Ok on the "D"...just looks like some writing there???

I saw What you mean.

But if it is a D it's a Very Scribbled D,
it appears more like just a Paint Defect in my Magnifying glass.

DG, I'm glad I live on top of a Mountain.

Headlines in the paper Simply say Devastated.
and some of the Pictures are Heartbreaking.

All I got is Water in my Basement & a Full Septic Tank from water Runoff. Can't use water, nowhere for it to go.

Roaring Springs is a good Distance West of me on the other side the Susquehanna, But I'll keep that in Mind.

Thanks !

Jeff
