My first hunt of the weekend was about 3 1/2 hours at a new permission at a house dating back to sometime between 1801 and 1819, it was a huge brick house that has apparently been hunted a bunch but I decided to give it a go. I found a spill of 3 wheats right off the bat and then a few other things like a nice old button. There was also a neat (and old-looking) relic I found in the field, I'll attach a photo of that later but I don't have it with me at the moment.
My second hunt only lasted a little more than an hour because it got dark but it was at one of my favorite sites... lots of goodies have turned up there. It is a home that dates to 1870 although there was a post office on the property as early as 1850. I found some clad, a wheatie, and a token from "The Weideman Co." in Cleveland, "Good for one Euclid Cigar."
My uncle and I searched through about a gallon of change my grandpa had and we found a war nickle, and two rosies, as well as some Canadian change and nickles from 1939 to the 50s.
...and finally, my best hunt of the weekend. I didn't think the rest was really worth posting but I had a great 3 hour hunt yesterday. The place I went to had an early-mid 1800s house site as well as two others. One of which burned down in 1928 I believe. The thing that made the day so fun is the range on the dates of the finds... the lc is an 1835 if my eyes serve me right and the newest coin was a wheatie from 1951, the mercs are my two oldest and the dates are 1916 and 1924. Oh and I almost forgot, I found a carved minie ball (thanks to villagenut and smokey on the ID)!
