Well, I was able to get back out to a relative’s yard this weekend and after a few minutes I was getting a solid 25¢ reading on my machine when about 2” down, I flip over the plug and there is a 1944 Quarter. My first ever! After searching for 3 years, I finally found one! WOOHOO! Less than 10 minutes later I get a reading of 1¢ 10¢ about 3” down is a 1943 Merc. YEA! Another silver! After the rain shower came and went, I went out once more. A few minutes later I get another 1¢ 10¢ reading which is either a dime or a copper penny. Well, about 5” down was the 1939 Merc. Another silver coin! It is this time that I notice some old tree roots where there is not tree around so I think they must’ve been one there a long time ago and also because these 3 silver coins were found within 5 feet of each other. I ended the day with 2 Wheat Pennies (1940 and 1944D), 2 Mercs (1939 and 1943), 1 Washington (1944) and 1 modern nickel.

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

congrats three times, glad it finally happened for you

Thank you for the replies. I was using the MXT with the Eclipse 5.3 search coil. The ground was really saturated and I was getting excellent depth with it.
