Another successful hunt at one of our most beat sites. Not many choices today so was happy to see a freshly harvested corn field. Started with a few "modern" finds with the wheatie and One Cent before picking out the 1710-1712 Six Deniers de France. It's in decent condition and is a first for me.

Last find of the day was also new to me and quite strange...a cache of old iron including a 1700s trade axe and hoe. All found in the same hole. I thought it may have been a trash pit but the axe and hoe look unused. Hoping to get a makers mark on the trade axe...will start the long apple cider vinegar soak today.

Thanks for looking!

Dang I need a day like that. Great finds boy time to pitch a tent and do some serious rippin.

Super awesome saves from such a 'beat' site! :notworthy:

What a incredible day you had. I’m from New Orleans so I am always looking for something French. I found two Indian tomahawks myself are you planning on doing any electrolysis on it or you just gonna leave it natural either way you got a winner

Thanks! I'm going to soak it in apple cider vinegar for a couple months to remove the corrosion and then seal it in wax.

Were they in a Indian shell mitten?

Nope...those are not common in my area. They were just buried with what you see in the picture. I thought it was scrap iron or a trash pit but the axe and hoe look unused so I think they planned to come back for the items at some point...very strange.

Romeo I’m telling you in the last three months iron has been my best friend I got a late 1600s French 8 pound cannon ball one the size of a baseball won the size of a half dollar and two sizes of quarter ones. I got a total Nother respect for that rusty gold. Just let me know if you want to see if they came out beautiful but I have to tell you yours really came out rust free that’s incredible
