Gotta love half days. Made it out to a park for a 4 hour hunt. Found 2 wheats out there with my Ace so figured there might be more. Well, got a personal record of 11 wheats today. Some deep and some shallow. So my question is why is there so many old wheats here, but no silver yet? I want to beleive the area has not been hunted to hard yet since so many wheaties are left but you would think there would also be dimes and quarters from the teens and up. Anyways, etrac does love screw caps!

keep at it, the silvers gotta pop out eventually. good job on getting all the wheats though in the meantime!

Way to go, Jason! A lot of cherry pickin went on in the early days of detecting from what I hear. Not uncommon to find a handful of wheats and 1,2 or no silver. Keep checking out that park. I am sure there is 1 or 2 hiding somewhere. I also noticed your digging the iron. That's good. Most people don't and miss a lot of silver that way too.

Also, listen closely for the difference between those screw caps and the coins. Its slight but it is there. On second thought, you might not get it with the stock headphones. They aren't the greatest and give the tones almost like a muddy sound. Get yourself a good set as soon as you can or you'll have to learn most of the tones all over again.

Thanks for the tips Dan. I realized its gunna take some time to get all the tones memorized and I actually could tell the screw cap sound from the coins after a while today but I dug them just in case. I didn't realize headphones make such a big difference. I was thinking of the killer bee 2 or original gray ghost. I like the idea of seperate volume control for each ear.

No problem, bud. Good call on digging them anyway. Good practice too. You tell yourself its a screw cap and dig to confirm. The headphones really do make a difference. When my SRGP's went down, I used the stock ones on a hunt and after 5 minutes took them off and ran no headphones for like 2 weeks. That's how bad they are in my opinion. I don't think you can go wrong with either the killer bees or grey ghosts. For reference, Jon and I use the Sunray Gold Pro's. All three are great phones.

Keep guessing before digging and soon you will be able to tell the difference before you know it.

keep on digging

Nice screw cap collection! But hey, "Anyways, etrac does love screw caps!"

Hmmm, try finding a machine that does not.

Anyhow you're a natural TH'er Jason, keep at it!

Great hunting. You'll get better on the screw caps
