Something I have always found improbable with the Zheng He ships is the size. I once operated a steel 265 ft salvage ship and to think of a wooden ship 475ft long by 175ft beam has me worried.
The dynamic loads on a vessel this size make me doubt the ships were ever that big. However maybe there is someone out there to correct me.
