Primary Interest:
Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Hit a popular beach with the CTX3030 for 6 1/2 hrs and came away with a variety of targets including my 4th gold ring for the year (not counting the recovery for the Newly Weds on Monday). Today, also found 2 other rings; an unmarked pearl surrounded by 10 clear stones goldish ring and a ring of thorns. In addition to 90 coins, also found a vape pipe, a Columbia 500 Pesos coin (hope a Columbia peso is worth a buck!) and an 8mm Buda head. WHAT?

I had been digging these paper and foil bottle tops (Juice drinks?) that register on the 3030 as 12-02 to 12-03 all day long. This is the same range that small gold and Platinum bands register. So it is not like ya want to reject that area of the 3030 matrix. Well, I had just detected another 12-02 and said to my self - One of these really is going to be a gold ring, and just then I looked in my scoop and there it was. Man, did that put a smile on my face. Breezed through the rest of the day.

Have been using the CTX3030 with 17" coil for about a week now and really like it. It seems to like dimes and quarters at about a ft down, giving me a good workout all day. And keep in mind that today's beach was very, very much hunted, grided, raked and visited by probably 10 MDers/day! But it is a Hugh beach. Anyways, I was most frustrated by targets that were too small for my sand scoop; passing through easily. I did find the Buda head after some effort, but forgot to pack the pointer, Duh. Point is - the 17" coil really picks-up some small stuff.

My current coin : gold ratio stands at 359:1. That is about the same as last year (356:1) but still worse than my earlier years (250-300:1). Have about 2 more weeks before I leave...I hate to say it... sand. What a great and varied day...can't wait till my next MD outing.

Gold is always great to get not matter how big or small.

Congrats on another Gold ring! That just confirms that I need to dig all those 12-02 through 12-04 readings I get on my E-TRAC this year!

I'm new to the DD coils, let alone the 17" but I recover on dry sand about 90% of my targets on the 1st or 2nd try (giant 920Xi Stealth scoop) if not I turn 90 deg and zero in. But for all considerations only find the deep (2ftish) alum cans to be suckie. Most common complaint is that it is heavy followed by glare problems w the screen, but hey, nothing is perfect but I absolutely love the ability to program my own sounds and discrimination levels with precision.

Nice finds, well done.

Congratulations on the gold! Nice assortment of finds as well.

What's the deal with the Buddha head I found one also?

Congratulations on the nice finds!

You are really taking command with your CTX! Very nice haul. I am now inspired to get out there and hunt my beach a little harder & more often!

In retrospect, finding a Buddha head is very very good luck! After finding the Buddha head I have found 2 nice gold rings in about a week. Buddha head is Strong Medicine.

sheeeesh! dude don't take this the wrong way but go back to ohio so the rest of us florida hunters stand a chance .
