Hit a popular beach with the CTX3030 for 6 1/2 hrs and came away with a variety of targets including my 4th gold ring for the year (not counting the recovery for the Newly Weds on Monday). Today, also found 2 other rings; an unmarked pearl surrounded by 10 clear stones goldish ring and a ring of thorns. In addition to 90 coins, also found a vape pipe, a Columbia 500 Pesos coin (hope a Columbia peso is worth a buck!) and an 8mm Buda head. WHAT?

I had been digging these paper and foil bottle tops (Juice drinks?) that register on the 3030 as 12-02 to 12-03 all day long. This is the same range that small gold and Platinum bands register. So it is not like ya want to reject that area of the 3030 matrix. Well, I had just detected another 12-02 and said to my self - One of these really is going to be a gold ring, and just then I looked in my scoop and there it was. Man, did that put a smile on my face. Breezed through the rest of the day.
Have been using the CTX3030 with 17" coil for about a week now and really like it. It seems to like dimes and quarters at about a ft down, giving me a good workout all day. And keep in mind that today's beach was very, very much hunted, grided, raked and visited by probably 10 MDers/day! But it is a Hugh beach. Anyways, I was most frustrated by targets that were too small for my sand scoop; passing through easily. I did find the Buda head after some effort, but forgot to pack the pointer, Duh. Point is - the 17" coil really picks-up some small stuff.
My current coin : gold ratio stands at 359:1. That is about the same as last year (356:1) but still worse than my earlier years (250-300:1). Have about 2 more weeks before I leave...I hate to say it... sand. What a great and varied day...can't wait till my next MD outing.
